A retired neighbor · Sun City, AZ
I'm Pete — a retired neighbor right here in Sun City. I teach seniors how to spot scams, lock down their computers, and feel confident online. No tech-talk. No surprises. Just plain English from someone who actually gets it.
No charge. No catch. Just useful.
Pete Miller · Sun City, AZ
An honest note
AARP Fraud Watch is wonderful. So is the free class at the Sun City West library. So is the AZ Attorney General's office. If you've been to one of those sessions, you've already done the smart thing.
But here's what I noticed sitting in those audiences: people leave with great general knowledge — and the same scary computer they came in with.
What I do is the next step. After you know what scams look like, I help you make your computer, your email, and your habits scam-proof. Together. With me on the other end of an email when something feels off.
The free programs are the textbook. I'm the tutor.

"Before Pete I was scared to open my email. Now I open it like a grown-up."

My story
I ran a personalized gift shop for two decades — engraving, embroidery, the works. I know what good service feels like, because I had to deliver it every day.
Now I'm retired in Sun City. But I kept noticing the same problem with my neighbors: they were getting frustrated, embarrassed, and sometimes scammed.
So I built this. Plain-English guides and short videos that treat you like the smart adult you are.
No runaround. No tech-speak. No upsells. Just what you need, explained clearly, with me on the other end of an email when something comes up.
Email me within 30 days and I'll refund you. No quiz, no guilt trip. I'd rather have your trust than your $79.
I answer every email myself — usually the same day. No call centers. No "press 1 for English."

No real company, government, or emergency ever requires gift cards.
The pop-up telling you this IS the attack. Don't call that number.

Scam Watch · Arizona
These are the scams hitting seniors in Arizona right now. Read this page, share it, and keep coming back — it's updated regularly.
Active scams to know
Scam #1
Someone calls saying they're from Microsoft, Apple, or your internet provider. They're not. No real tech company calls you out of the blue. Hang up. Never give anyone remote access to your computer.
Scam #2
They claim you owe back taxes or your Social Security is suspended. The IRS contacts you by mail first — always. Social Security doesn't threaten benefits over the phone. Hang up.
Scam #3
Someone promises incredible returns. They may show you a website where your "money is growing." This is exactly what happened to Pete and Sharon — a devastating loss that nobody warned them about. By the time you try to withdraw, the money is gone.
Scam #4
"Grandma, it's me — I'm in trouble, don't tell Mom and Dad." They know your grandchild's name. Hang up and call your family directly at a number you already have. Never wire money or buy gift cards first.
Scam #5
Real prizes don't require upfront payment. Real sweepstakes don't need your Social Security number. If you have to pay to receive it, it's a scam.
Scam #6
An email from your bank, Amazon, or Medicare says there's a problem — click here. Don't. Go directly to that company's real website by typing it yourself, or call the number on the back of your card.
Rules that are always true
If it's happening right now
Step 1 — Stop. Don't click, don't call back, don't send money or gift cards.
Step 2 — Call someone you trust. A family member or neighbor. Tell them what happened before you do anything else.
Step 3 — Report it. FTC: 1-877-382-4357. Or email Pete at [email protected]
Step 4 — Don't be embarrassed. This happened to Pete and Sharon. It happens to sharp, careful people every single day. You are not alone.

About Pete Miller
A retired neighbor right here in Sun City — building the resource I wish had existed when we needed it most.
Pete Miller · Sun City, AZ
The story
Operations, people, and systems — self-taught, as always. Learning to manage complexity without a manual.
Traveling to Panama, Hawaii, and across the U.S. — turning complex information into 40-hour training programs that real people could understand. That skill never left.
Engraving, embroidery, a snack bar, a second store, bankruptcy, two moves — and never quitting once. They sold one item at their first flea market. They came back.
Pete and Sharon suffered a devastating financial loss to a scammer. Nobody warned them. Nobody was in their corner. That became the fuel — and this website is the result. "I want to be the person that nobody was for us."
Why Pete
The tech industry builds for youth. Tutorials assume you already know things. Support is fast, impersonal, and frustrating. And predators specifically target the confusion that results.

Questions I hear a lot
I read every single one myself — [email protected]
AARP Fraud Watch is excellent. I recommend it to every neighbor I meet. They publish alerts, run hotlines, and host free educational events — there's one at the Sun City West library a few times a year. If you haven't signed up, you should.
Here's what AARP can't do, that I can:
AARP is the public library. I'm the librarian who knows your name.
Use both. That's what I'd tell my own mother to do.
Right here in the West Valley — Sun City, Sun City West, Sun City Grand, Surprise, and Peoria. I open up a few spots each month. If the calendar shows fully booked, the course is the next best thing — same content, just from your favorite chair.
Still have a question? Email Pete directly —

For Adult Children & Grandchildren
If you have a parent, grandparent, or loved one in the West Valley — and you worry about scams — this page is for you.
The real problem
Maybe they don't want to worry you. Maybe they're embarrassed. Maybe they just don't know what's a real threat and what isn't. So they click. They call the number. They buy the gift cards.
What they need isn't someone to do it for them — they're smart, capable adults. What they need is someone to teach them how to recognize danger, in plain English, without making them feel small.
That's Pete. A retired neighbor, right here in Sun City, who's been through it himself and built the resource he wished had existed.
"The best gift you can give them isn't doing it for them. It's making sure they understand it themselves."
